Cisco 675/678 NAT

Setting up NAT

Attach your Cisco 675 or 678 DSL router to your computer using the serial management cable which was included in the box with your router from Qwest.

Use a terminal program (such as HyperTerminal for Microsoft Windows or ZTerm for Apple Macintosh) to connect and login to your router. Enter enabled mode by entering the command "en" and then your DSL password.

For each port which you want to forward to your computer, enter the following command. For the INTERNAL address, use the internal IP address which you have assigned to your computer. For the EXTERNAL address, use the external IP address which was given to you when you signed up for your ipHouse DSL account.

set nat entry add INTERNAL port EXTERNAL port type

For example,

        set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 80 216.250.178.0 80 tcp

For a list of port numbers and types for many common services and applications, see NAT Support.

If your router is running CBOS version 2.4.1 or later (if you're not sure, enter the command "show ver"), you may specify a range of port numbers for a NAT entry. For example,

        set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 6970-6999 216.250.178.0 6970-6999 udp

If your router is running CBOS version 2.2.0 or later, you may use a wildcard NAT entry to forward all ports to your computer. For example,

        set nat entry add 10.0.0.2

If you use a wildcard NAT entry in addition to other NAT entries (for example, you want port 80 forwarded to one computer and all other ports forwarded to another), the wildcard NAT entry must come first.

After you have finished, enter the command "write" to write the new configuration to the router's permanent memory.

Finally, enter the command "reboot" to restart the router.
