Changing your Account Settings

If you have used Eudora before for another mailbox, then you will need to change your account settings for Eudora to handle your ipHouse mailbox.

To change your account settings, start by pulling down the "Special" menu, then select "Settings..."

If the "Getting Started" icon is not already selected on the left side of the window, then click once on it.

Enter your e-mail address as your Username. Your e-mail address is normally the username you chose when you set up your ipHouse account, followed by "@iphouse.com".

For example, "tokugawa@iphouse.com".

Next, decide whether you want to handle your incoming e-mail via POP or IMAP. Enter the Incoming Mail Server, either "pop.iphouse.com" for POP access, or "imap.iphouse.com" for IMAP access.

Enter your Full Name.

Enter "smtp.iphouse.com" as the SMTP Server.

Enter your e-mail address again as your Return Address.

Next, click on the "Checking Mail" icon.

Your Username and Mail Server should already be entered from the Getting Started section.

Select the appropriate Mail Protocol for handling your incoming e-mail, either POP or IMAP.

Check the box next to "Save password" if you want Eudora to remember your account password for you.

SSL is an OPTIONAL security protocol which uses encryption to protect your login and other sensitive information between your computer and our servers. While we recommend using SSL to encrypt your connection to the mail server, it is not required. Enabling SSL may cause unnecessary problems authenticating to our servers. If you experience problems authenticating, disable SSL encryption and please notify support about your problem. Be sure to include what e-mail program and version you're using so that we know which programs are not working with our servers.

To configure Eudora to use SSL when sending or retrieving e-mail, first scroll down the list of icons on the left side of the window until you find the "SSL" icon, then click once on it.

Select "Required (Alternate Port)" from the SSL for POP, SMTP, and IMAP pop-up menus.

Set the Alternate Port SSL Negotiation to "Maximum Compatibility" by clicking on the round radio button next to it.

Click on the "OK" button at the bottom of the window to finish setting up your e-mail account.
