If you have used Outlook XP before for another mailbox, then you will need to change your account settings for Outlook XP to handle your ipHouse mailbox.
If your existing e-mail account is POP and you'd prefer to handle your incoming e-mail via IMAP instead, or vice-versa, then you will need to add a new account instead.
To change your account settings, start by pulling down the "Tools" menu, then select "E-mail Accounts..."
Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" by clicking on the round radio button next to it.
Click on the "Next" button at the bottom of the window to continue...
Select your e-mail account in the list, then click on the "Change..." button to the right.
Enter your Full Name, and E-mail Address. Your e-mail address is normally the username you chose when you set up your ipHouse account, followed by "@iphouse.com".
For example, "tokugawa@iphouse.com".
Enter your e-mail address again as your Logon User Name, and enter the password you chose (or were given) when you set up your account. It must be entered exactly, uppercase and lowercase letters are different.
Check the box next to "Remember password" if you want Outlook XP to remember your account password for you.
The box next to "Log in using Secure Password Authentication" should NOT be checked.
Enter the Incoming Mail Server, either "pop.iphouse.com" for POP access, or "imap.iphouse.com" for IMAP access.
Enter "smtp.iphouse.com" as the Outgoing Mail Server.
Click on the "More Settings..." button.
In the Internet E-mail Settings window, click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.
Check the box next to "My outgoing server requires authentication", and select "Use the same settings as my incoming mail server".
SSL is an OPTIONAL security protocol which uses encryption to protect your login and other sensitive information between your computer and our servers. While we recommend using SSL to encrypt your connection to the mail server, it is not required. Enabling SSL may cause unnecessary problems authenticating to our servers. If you experience problems authenticating, disable SSL encryption and please notify support about your problem. Be sure to include what e-mail program and version you're using so that we know which programs are not working with our servers.
To configure Outlook XP to use SSL, click on the "Advanced" tab.
To configure Outlook XP to use SSL when sending e-mail, check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)", below Outgoing server (SMTP).
To configure Outlook XP to use SSL when retrieving e-mail, check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)", below Incoming server (POP3/IMAP).
Click on the "OK" button to close the Internet E-mail Settings window.
In the E-mail Accounts window, click on the "Next" button to continue...
Finally, click on the "Finish" button to finish setting up your e-mail account. Outlook XP should now try to download or access any e-mail messages you have waiting on the ipHouse mail server.
