Windows 2000 Dialup Support

Microsoft Windows 2000 includes all the software you need to establish a dialup connection to the Internet through ipHouse, send and receive e-mail (Outlook Express), and browse the web (Internet Explorer).

Before following these instructions, please make sure that you have a modem installed in your PC or an external modem correctly connected, Windows 2000 installed, Administrator privileges on your computer, and the username and password you chose when you set up your ipHouse Dialup account.

Running the Internet Connection Wizard

The Internet Connection Wizard is an application which Microsoft provides as part of the operating system to assist you in setting up dialup and other network connections.

To run the Internet Connection Wizard, find its icon on your Windows desktop and double-click on it.

If you do not have this icon on your desktop, then start by clicking on the Windows 2000 "Start" menu at the bottom left corner of your screen, then select "Settings", then "Network and Dial-up Connections". In the Network and Dial-up Connections window, double-click on the "Make New Connection" icon.

Troubleshooting

If the connection fails, go back to the Network Connections window and double check all your settings. Your dialup username must be your full e-mail address, "username@iphouse.com". Your password must be entered exactly, uppercase and lowercase letters are different. Make sure that your modem is connected correctly if its an external type, and that you can make a voice phone call on the phone line your modem is on.

If you've double checked everything and the connection still fails, please contact one of our technical support staff and we'll be happy to help you troubleshoot.
